Simplified Neck Angle Jig
Simplified Neck Angle Jig
This is a budget-friendly neck angle jig that does the same job as any standard neck angle jig, without unnecessary complexity. Simple, accurate, and effective.
How it works
The process is shown briefly in the last few photos.
The neck side of the jig (the T-shaped section) is clamped in place before use. The pivoting cradle features two side locking nuts that allow it to follow the correct radius as it moves back and forth.
Before starting, the cradle is set to the zero-angle position and secured with the two locking nuts.
An aluminium reference bar is then placed at the rear of the cradle. Using an engineer’s square, the bar is set perfectly to 90° and locked in place with an Allen key and locking nut.
Next, the guitar body is placed on the jig. The required neck angle is established either by:
using the bridge and saddle as reference, or
measuring beforehand and setting the angle directly.
Once the correct angle is found, the pivoting cradle naturally aligns and is locked again using the two side locking nuts.
The sliding templates are then adjusted to set the depth of the joint.
(There are two additional locking nuts, not shown in the photos, used to secure the neck firmly in place.)
Body routing side
The second part of the jig is used to route the body. It supports both dovetail and mortise & tenon joints.
This section simply sits on the guitar body:
set the depth,
tighten the thumbwheel nut,
clamp the body in place.
What’s included
One jig
Both dovetail and M&T templates included
